Founded in 1964 with 100% domestic capital; Nobel İlaç is a well-established pharmaceuticals company operating at international arena and representing the Turkish brand in a wide geography. While it maintains its strategic operations in over 20 countries and its expansion into new markets, it provides global services as a big family with approximately 2500 domestic and overseas employees.

Nobel İlaç decided to collaborate with NGN by taking one of the most important steps on the way to digital transformation and transferring its IT infrastructure to cloud. This investment implemented with NGN as one of the leading and experienced players in the sector has provided Nobel with spped, uninterrupted service, high performance and added value.

We talked to Nobel İlaç’s Infrastructure and Operations Manager Tülin Şendemir and NGN’s Assistant General Manager Müfir Süer in relation with the IT strategy of the brand and the award-winning project implemented with NGN…

Can you briefly talk about Nobel İlaç and your digital transformation strategy?

Tülin Şendemir: Nobel İlaç, a part of Ulkar Holding, continues its operations with the objective of providing both high quality and cost-effective medicine alternatives in Turkey and all around the world. With our wide range of 100 products, we took our initial global steps in Kazakhstan, and became the first production facility in the country having foreign capital through Nobel AFF that was founded in 2002. We employ over 300 workers and produce some 160 pharmaceutical products at Nobel Pharmsanoat, which is our affiliate in Uzbekistan as a source of pride for us in the Asian geography. Nobel Pharmsanoat is a Turkish brand that has equalized Nobel name and brand to high quality in Uzbekistan, one of the most populous countries in the Central Asia. As we are currently operating in over 20 countries, we are obliged to immediately meet the needs of many end users. IT transformation was actually an inevitable project that we had been planning for a long time.

Can you inform us about the need and process of the “Consolidation and Cloud Transition” project that was jointly implemented with NGN?

Tülin Şendemir: As Nobel IT team, we provide services to over 2000 end users in the countries where we operate. We needed scalable, flexible, fast and reliable IT infrastructure to meet the needs from various countries and to provide high-quality services. We had a very successful project with NGN. With the support of NGN, we could finish the process successfully in a short period of time without any interruptions. Based on this cloud project, all our systems are currently running uninterruptedly in a completely updated and state-of-the-art technology infrastructure that meets all IT requirements and ensures compliance with the applicable regulations.

Müfit Süer: Nobel İlaç is a significant business partner with which we believe we can implement many other successful projects. As a group that guides enterprises in the field of technology on their journey of digitalization, we offer solutions that will fundamentally change the enterprises’ ways of doing business through NGN Cloud. The purpose of the project that we jointly implemented with Nobel İlaç was to provide an uninterrupted, secure and high-performance IT system that ensures business continuity and complies with the applicable regulations. Thanks to the state-of-the-art technology infrastructure and developed network topology, we combined 43 servers at Nobel headquarters and transferred them to NGN Cloud platform. The entire transition was executed in accordance with the business continuity of our end users, and no interruptions or data loss occurred. Besides, with NGN Cloud, we charge services per month based on the ‘‘Go As You Pay’’ model, which is provided for the first time in Turkey by a local provider and which establishes a new standard in the sector. We observed performance and user satisfaction increase as a result of the transition. We converted the system into a scalable system during the peak times such as year/month. The benefits of the solution include the efficient management of the operational IT costs as independent of the highest loads as well as enhanced customer services, sustainable availability and high system performance.

How was the project implemented? What kinds of changes did you have in your existing systems and processes?

Tülin Şendemir: We conducted feasibility and competitors’ analysis before the project. This project has enabled Nobel’s IT infrastructure to turn into risk-free, scalable, flexible, high performance and uninterrupted infrastructure. We saved on extra licensing costs. Currently, cloud systems are monitored and managed on a 24/7 basis. This was a successful project that was implemented on time as planned. I would like to thank NGN once again for the success and outputs of the project.

NGN Consolidation and Cloud Transition Project provided an award to Nobel İlaç, what would you like to say?

Tülin Şendemir: We took a huge step on the way to digitalization. It was very important for us to collaborate with a reliable business partner for the project. We are very happy with our cooperation with NGN and the results of the project; the award we received proves this. We received the 2^nd Prize in the ‘‘Cloud Transition’’ category at IDC Cloud Awards that were recently held. I consider that we will implement many other successful projects together.

Müfit Süer: As a system integrator that has its own data center in Turkey and provides 360° services in a single platform, we have full confidence and believe in what we do. We had a very successful project process with Nobel İlaç and implemented a great project. We witnessed how they took a major step on the way of digital transformation by transferring their systems to NGN Cloud. The award that we received for our project from IDC, a leading organization in the sector, gives us both pride and passion.
