Startup Ecosystem Continues to Grow

Turkish Startup Ecosystem Conference, of which NGN is one of the sponsors, was held by startups.watch that is a startup analysis platform for investors and enterprises at Zorlu Center of Performance Arts on February 5th, 2019. Startup ecosystem figures and developments for 2018 were disclosed in the event.

As a country that took a long road last year in terms of providing assistance to startups, Turkey was one of the early period investment countries below 100 million USD until 2017. However, it exceeded the 100 million USD threshold and was promoted to the 1st league among the countries such as Norway, Denmark, Finland and Italy etc. 100 startups in Turkey raised 59 million USD investment from the angle and startup capitals in 2018.

During the event, investments that range from artificial intelligence, e-trade, gaming to finance technology were explained in details. Investors, startups, managers of enterprises and authorized officers from public entities gathered and discussed the future projections and assessed the year.

NGN Continues to Support the Startups!

NGN’s Board Chairman İnanç Erol has indicated that NGN has started to provide world-class services through Star of Bosphorus Data Center, one of the most advanced data centers in Turkey and NGN Cloud investment. He also added that the Company is open to all startups that think global and big and is ready to support them. He also granted cloud support as gift to kodluyoruz.org, which is an accelerated training program initiated to support the employment processes of young people that intend to pursue career in informatics sector as a social startup.

SubsCreasy, one of the startups recently supported by NGN in collaboration with İTÜ Arı Teknokent, was also demonstrated on stage. It thanked Mr. Erol once again by indicating that they continue to grow thanks to the support package and mentorship provided by NGN.

Mr. Erol emphasized the importance of supporting startups and entrepreneurs and expanding the ecosystem and growing together, and added that the investments of the Company will continue in this field.

The Biggest Support for Startups is Provided by the State!

In his speech, Mr. Mehmet Fatih Kaçır, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, underlined that the state will continue to support startups and entrepreneurs.

In 2018, TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB supported entrepreneurs much more than investors. While entrepreneurs raised a total of 400 thousand USD from the angles and investors at the phase of idea generation, they received support from state institutions in the amount of 12.2 million USD.
